omnistitions 6 : Transmissions from a place to come! Omnistitions 6: Transmissions from a Place to Come is the final broadcast from the Omnistitional Cultures Research Unit (OCRU), blending and reworking material drawn from 36 hours of audio recorded during a six-month Resonance Extra/Gravity Waves residency. As a culmination of the OCRU project, the piece combines and transforms various performances, research activities and experiments as the unit attempts to build a sonic portal towards an unbounded future.
Inspired by Mark Fisher’s Post Capitalist Desire, the OCRU experiments with the “anti-authoritarian, acephalic contagion-network” as a model for collective production—leaderless and viral, instantiated as a dynamic, disruptive force. Unofficially embedded within XXX University, OCRU operates as a parasitic research cell, echoing the group’s central inquiry into spectral infrastructures—a term that surfaces across media archaeology, infrastructure studies, and hauntology—to describe the persistence of institutional, technological, and ideological systems. These unseen architectures of power, linger as affective traces, abandoned protocols, and dormant control mechanisms.Across the episodes, listeners encountered a tangle of voices, citations, sonic debris, and urgent speculations. What does it mean to conduct research without mandate? To occupy the university as as an sonic spectre?The OCRU is as much an academic détournement as it is a signal of insurgent research practice: ungovernable, diffuse, and defiantly resonant.
