Omnistitions: Transmissions from the OCRU!Omnistitions: Transmissions from the OCRU!Omnistitions: Transmissions from the OCRU (Omnistitional Cultures Research Unit) is a multilayered soundwork unfolding over six episodes for Resonance Extra. Blurring the lines between research and ritual, broadcast and breakdown, the series assembles a delirious sonic collage: spoken word, ranting, sampling, looping, and a merging of analogue and digital practices.
Unofficially embedded within XXX University, OCRU operates as a parasitic research cell—echoing the group’s central inquiry into institutional hauntings, hidden architectures of power, and the possibilities of collectivity in the ruins of academia.Inspired by Mark Fisher’s Post Capitalist Desire, OCRU experiments with the “anti-authoritarian, acephalic contagion-network” as a model for collective production—leaderless and viral, instantiated as a dynamic, disruptive force. The project also draws on the idea of spectral infrastructures—a term that surfaces across media archaeology, infrastructure studies, and hauntology—to describe the persistence of institutional, technological, and ideological systems. These are the unseen architectures that outlast their usefulness, lingering as affective traces, abandoned protocols, or dormant control mechanisms embedded in the everyday.
Across the episodes, listeners will encounter a tangle of voices, citations, sonic debris, and urgent speculations. What does it mean to conduct research without mandate? To occupy the university as as an sonic spectre?Omnistitions: Transmissions from the OCRU is as much an academic détournement as it is a signal of insurgent research practice: ungovernable, diffuse, and defiantly resonant.
